Kimberly Vannest, an assistant professor of special education and bilingual education in the Department of Educational Psychology, has been named a recipient of the 2007-2008 Montague-Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) Scholar Award.

"This award means the world to me as it reflects what is most important for us here at A&M, and that is the combined skills of teaching and scholarship, this is a part of what makes the undergraduate experience here so special," said Vannest. "A&M is blessed with an extensive number or outstanding faculty in every department. I'm honored and humbled to be this year's recipient."

Annually, each academic college names as Montague-CTE Scholar one tenure-track assistant professor who has already demonstrated a commitment to, and potential for, excellence in undergraduate teaching.

Vannest will receive her award at a luncheon to be held Oct. 10.  Montague-CTE Scholars also receive a $5,000 grant to encourage further development of innovative teaching-related projects.
