The School Psychology Program at Texas A&M University has successfully recruited and maintained students from diverse backgrounds. Since the Fall of 1990, 102 new students have entered the program. Twenty percent have been male, while 80% have been female. In particular, of the 58 doctoral students currently enrolled, 29 (50%) are culturally diverse. The composition of these 29 students consists of: 18 Hispanic, 5 African American, 1 Asian/Pacific Islander, 1 biracial (Hispanic and African American) and 4 International students (China, Korea, Brazil, and Singapore). An average of 10 students accept admission and attend the program every year. Currently, 57% of the students in the program are from Texas, while 33% are from out-of-state. Additionally, 10% are international students. Some doctoral students came in with Master's degrees, while others began their doctoral study with only their Bachelor's degrees.
