Oi-Man Kwok, assistant professor of Educational Psychology Foundations, has received the Outstanding New Faculty Award for 2007 from the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) Advisory Committee.

Each year, this award recognizes a new faculty member within three years of employment at Texas A&M who has achieved early success in research, teaching and service, and who has made significant service contributions to his department and the college.

"I was speechless when I knew that I was selected for the award," Kwok said.

He serves as co-principal investigator on two research teams investigating solutions to critical problems facing schools, and according to his colleagues, has made remarkable progress in building a program of research in the past two and a half years.  He adds that he enjoys teaching and always learns from students and colleagues.

"Sometimes their questions not only can make me improve my teaching materials but also lead to new research questions," Kwok said.

Kwok will receive his award at the CEHD Awards Celebration on Sept. 28 at the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center.
