Fuhui Tong Selected As MALRC Fellow

Fuhui Tong, assistant professor in the Department of Educational Psychology, has received recognition as a Mexican American and U.S. Latino Research Center (MALRC) Fellow as well as receiving a grant. 

Tong received a planning grant for her work titled "The Role of Latino Teachers' Characteristics on Their English-Learning Students' School Success."

Two additional College of Education and Human Development faculty members, L. Quentin Dixon and E. Lisako J. McKyer, were also named MALRC Fellows.

Dixon, assistant professor in the Department of Teaching, Learning and Culture, received a planning grant for her work titled "Building Language and Pre-literacy Skills in the Classroom: A Professional Development Program for Preschool Teachers of Spanish speaking children." McKyer, assistant professor in the Department of Health and Kinesiology, received a planning grant for her work titled "Hispanic Mothers' Knowledge, Perceptions and Attitudes Towards Childhood Overweight and Their Impact on Family's Preventative Health Behaviors." 

As a fellow, each recipient receives the title of MALRC Fellow for three years and training from the Vice President of Research Office of Proposal Development to enhance their grant writing skills.
