Xitao Fan, a College of Education and Human Development Ph.D. alumnus, was recently appointed dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Macau in China.

Fan, a world-renowned scholar, educator and chair professor at the University of Macau, received his doctorate in educational psychology, with a specialization in research, measurement and statistics, from Texas A&M University in 1993.  Read More...

Jeff Liew will be receiving an Early Career Award from the Society for Research in Child Development (SRCD) at their 2011 Biennial Meeting, taking place in Montreal, Quebec, Canada , March 31st to April 2nd. SRCD is widely recognized as the premiere professional organization in the field of child development. For faculty and students who may be attending the conference and are interested in the topic, he will be chairing a paper symposium on "Social and Emotional Factors in Children's Academic Outcomes" with Jan Hughes as the discussant. In addition, Audrea Youngman Johnson (SPSY doctoral student) will be presenting a paper in a symposium on "Childhood Overweight and Obesity: Predictors, Correlates, and Outcomes".
