BILINGUAL EDUCATION TEACHER PREPARATION

The Department of Educational Psychology at Texas A&M University offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (INST) with an emphasis in Bilingual Education.
This degree provides
- certification in Bilingual EC-6
- emphasis on addressing English Language Learner needs in Bilingual, Dual Language, and ESL classroom settings
- field experiences in Bilingual, Dual Language, and ESL classroom settings
Application deadlines are April 1st for admission to the fall semester cohort and August 1st for summer transfer students desiring admission to the fall semester cohort.

How do I begin the admissions process for the BIED?
Please visit our application procedure page or contact the Bilingual Education Programs undergraduate advisor, Christy Porter csporter@tamu.edu who will send you the admissions application packet. Once you are admitted in the program you will begin a four semester sequence of upper level courses. (See course schedule). Is there a student organization affiliated with BIED?
The student organization for pre-service bilingual education teachers is the Bilingual Education Student Organization (BESO), an affiliate of the Texas Association for Bilingual Education (TABE).
